The Indianapolis Colts figured in the first tied game in the 2022 NFL season with the Houston Texans.
Since then, they have won one and lost two games.
While their 1-2-1 start is alarming for some, it’s their way of life during the Frank Reich era.

NFL on CBS tweeted, “Since Frank Reich became Colts HC, they are 9-14-1 in Weeks 1-5… BUT are 29-16 in Weeks 6-18.”
The slow start could be the reason for their non-participation in the AFC playoffs in two of the last three seasons.
Last year, the Colts were 3-5 through the first half of their campaign.
However, they started to play great football and had two opportunities to clinch a postseason berth.
They failed to enter after losing both games and ending with a 9-8 record.
Winning more games earlier in the season could have made their quest for a playoff spot easier.
The opposite outcome happened in 2019 as the Colts raced to a 5-2 record.
Unfortunately, they bowed out of playoff contention after finishing 7-9.
Meanwhile, the Colts have two playoff appearances during Reich’s tenure as head coach.
In 2018, they started 1-5 before winning nine of their last ten games.
Two years later, they never went below .500 and finished with an 11-5 slate.
Sadly, the Colts only had one victory out of three postseason games.
Reich has a 37-28 regular season record with the Colts from 2018 to 2021.
Indianapolis’ Run Game Is Struggling
While Matt Ryan navigates their passing game, the Colts find success if Jonathan Taylor has a big game.
He hasn’t reached the 100-yard mark, though, in his last three games.
That’s a far cry from the 161 yards he had in their season opener against the Texans.
Since then, last year’s Triple Crown for running backs winner had 54, 71, and 42 yards.
The Colts can go back to .500 this season with a Week 5 win over the Denver Broncos.
