A major key to the success of the St. Louis Cardinals in the month of August has been their recent power surge.
Players such as Paul Goldschmidt, Nolan Arenado, and Albert Pujols have been popping home runs like nobody’s business.
Arenado hit a big one last night, and Pujols hit No. 693 of his career on Monday.
In fact, Goldschmidt, Arenado, and Pujols have seven home runs each in the month of August.
Only one other player in baseball, Max Muncy of the Los Angeles Dodgers, has hit seven home runs this month, meaning that the Cardinals dominate that list of players with three of the four who have hit seven this month.
Nolan Arenado hit his 7th HR during the month of August and his 26th of the season last night against the Cubs.

Cards Offense Rolling In August
The Cardinals offense has been considerably better this season than in recent years.
Part of it could be having Pujols around for one last year.
But the home runs are flying off the Cardinals bats right now.
The offense is carrying the team through the month of August and is actually in the top five in all of baseball in runs scored with 600.
Goldschmidt, Arenado, and Pujols have formed a deadly big three in the middle of the Cardinals’ order, which brings back some memories of the famed “MV3” from the mid 2000s that featured Pujols, Jim Edmonds, and Scott Rolen.
This is about as explosive as the Cards lineup has been in a few years.
When you have three guys out of four who have hit seven home runs in a single month, that means your offense is red-hot and is doing some serious damage.
That’s what the story has been this month in St. Louis.
We’ll see if these three sluggers can keep it up.
