The Arizona Cardinals made no surprises as they moved on from head coach Kliff Kingsbury on Black Monday.
Kingsbury was rumored to be let go after another underwhelming year, although it’s a bit surprising to some because he was given an extension following the 2021 season.
Now, the Cardinals go back to the drawing board and will search for a new head coach.
One popular option appears to be in the building already in Arizona.

“Expect #AZCardinals DC Vance Joseph to get a long look for HC in Arizona, source said. He’s very respected in the building,” Ian Rapoport tweeted.
Joseph has been the defensive coordinator in Arizona since 2019 and has head coaching experience.
Joseph spent two seasons as the Denver Broncos head coach, going 5-11 in 2017 and 6-10 in 2018 before being let go.
He is a well-respected coach and well-liked in Arizona, but the Cardinals also moved on from General Manager Steve Keim, so they could go in a totally different direction depending on how things work out.
Joseph was the interim head coach for one game in 2021 as Kingsbury missed the contest due to COVID-19, and the Cardinals defeated the Cleveland Browns.
There are a lot of openings for head coaching jobs in the NFL, and Joseph’s name could be floating around for other openings.
However, he is already with the Cardinals, and having some form of continuity in the desert makes sense.
Joseph’s tenure with the Broncos did not go well, but he has shown a lot of promise during his run as defensive coordinator.
