People weren’t quite sure of what to expect from Andre Drummond when he was signed by the Chicago Bulls.
The big man has been inconsistent at best during the last few seasons as he bounced around the league from the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Los Angeles Lakers, Philadelphia 76ers, and Brooklyn Nets.
ANDRE DRUMMOND BLOCK. 😤🔒
— Hoop Central (@TheHoopCentral) October 12, 2022
Obviously, the regular season hasn’t started yet but Drummond’s work during the preseason has been impressive.
The other night he was 3-of-3 from the three-point line, which was something no one expected from him.
But in the latest preseason game, Drummond created a monster block against the Milwaukee Bucks.
It’s been some time since we have seen this sort of effort and power from Drummond.
Will he be giving a lot more of it in the season ahead?
Something To Prove In Chicago
Drummond’s career has been filled with many honors.
He is a two-time All-Star, a four-time rebounding champion, and a member of All-NBA and All-Rookie teams.
Still, he hasn’t been part of the NBA conversation much lately.
He was good for 7.9 points and 9.3 rebounds last season, both down from his career averages.
When he got signed by the Bulls, most people expected that he’d simply be a bench player who would get a few minutes a night.
That might end up being the case but he is showing why he should have the faith of the team and its coaching staff.
Obviously, playing in the regular season is different than preseason so we don’t know if Drummond can perform like this starting next week.
But if he is able to keep playing like this, with something to prove to fans and the team, then Drummond might be one of the biggest surprises of 2022-23.
