The Milwaukee Brewers may have already been eliminated from NL Central title contention, but that doesn’t mean that they’re going to lay down and die.
In fact, it’s quite the opposite.
One night after having to watch the St. Louis Cardinals celebrate a division title on their field, the Brewers gained a little ground in the Wild Card race.
The Philadelphia Phillies lost 4-2 to the Chicago Cubs, allowing Milwaukee to creep within a half-game of them for the final NL Wild Card spot.
Whoever wins the final Wild Card spot will be traveling to St. Louis for the Wild Card series.
Last night was big for the @Mets and @Brewers. 👀

Brewers Alive And Well
Anybody who thought the Brewers were dead in the water clearly didn’t think this one through.
The Brewers are rolling now and have found their stride at just the right time.
Meanwhile, the Phillies are slumping, having lost four in a row entering the day.
Since then, they lost again and were swept by the Cubs.
A win for the Brewers would put Milwaukee in sole possession of the final NL Wild Card spot.
If they win it, they would match up with the Cardinals next Friday, and could potentially line up Corbin Burnes, Brandon Woodruff, and Freddy Peralta for those three games, which could give them a huge advantage.
They still have to jump the Phillies first, however, but that could be coming soon, possibly even today.
While the Brewers are winning games, the Phillies have begun to slump at the worst possible time, and now it’s crunch time for them.
This race just got that much more exciting.
We’ll see what transpires over the next week.
