If you have been following MLB in the last year or two, you probably know that the Oakland Athletics haven’t really been competitive lately.
Well, to be fair, they fought for a postseason spot in 2021 and actually were buyers at the deadline.
However, that same year signaled the start of their rebuilding process.
When they failed to make the playoffs, ownership and the front office traded most of their star players and expensive contracts to cut as many costs as possible.
Naturally, the team lost appeal to fans in 2022 and not only finished with the worst record in the American League, but attendance numbers tanked.
They decreased so much that even a college program drew more people than them.

The Arkansas Razorbacks are the intercollegiate athletics teams representing the University of Arkansas.
The 2022 average attendance of the baseball team was just over 10,000 people per game, whereas the A’s had just under 10,000 fans per contest.
That’s both sad and surprising at the same time.
MLB can’t allow a team to report those ugly attendance numbers, and should be looking for ways to make A’s games more attractive for fans.
The best way would be putting together a competitive team, which the A’s are not particularly excited about these days.
Once a few of their prospects hit, they will be competitive for a three or four-year span, then they will surely rebuild again.
As long as they have a cheap owner, that will be a never-ending cycle.
Their stadium also needs a lot of work, as does the fan experience.
Supporters need a reason to be excited and go to games, but they don’t have one at the moment.
