The Oakland Athletics essentially traded away their entire team after the MLB lockout was over.
Olson was ultimately traded to the Atlanta Braves when they bowed out of the Freddie Freeman sweepstakes.
Olson has had a pretty good season with the Braves so far, hitting .249 with 24 home runs and 76 RBI.
One of the key pieces going back to the A’s in that trade was top catching prospect Shea Langeliers.
Today, the A’s decided to give Langeliers a chance and called up the top catching prospect.
He is the team’s top prospect overall and the No. 28 prospect in baseball according to MLB Pipeline.
The Oakland Athletics are calling up catcher Shea Langeliers. He was the centerpiece of the #Braves prospect package in the Matt Olson trade.

A’s Call Up Top Prospect
Langeliers. 24, has had a pretty solid season at Triple-A, hitting .283 with 19 home runs and 56 RBI.
Now, he has a chance to make his mark in the Major Leagues with the A’s.
Oakland is well out of postseason contention, but adding a guy like Langeliers could give them a slightly different look down the stretch, providing a little spark and possibly igniting some hope for the future.
Langeliers was drafted ninth overall by the Braves in the 2019 draft out of Baylor University.
Langeliers was featured in the Futures Game back in July during All-Star weekend, hitting a solo home run during the game.
Now, Langeliers is headed for the big leagues and is ready to give the fans in Oakland something to cheer about and something to look forward to as the club builds for its future.
