After the downfall of the Los Angeles Angels, the Houston Astros got hot and reclaimed their place atop the American League West division.
Granted, the Astros already had the best team in the division, at least on paper, but things went south very quickly for the Angels, who had gotten off to a great start.
Now, Houston is at the top once again.
Astros insider Chandler Rome pointed out an interesting fact last night after the Angels lost yet again.
With that Angels loss, the Astros lead in the AL West has now been extended to 10 games, after sitting at 5.5 games not too long ago.
The Angels lost tonight, meaning the Astros have a 10-game lead in the American League West. The Astros are 9-7 in June. Their division lead has grown from 5.5 games to 10 games.

Rolling In H-Town
Like it or not, the Astros are still a dangerous team and are proving that they can win ballgames without stealing signs and banging trash cans.
This is clearly the best team in the AL West, and it was only a matter of time before they woke up and assumed their position at the top of the division.
In fact, the Astros are the only team in the AL West that is over .500 at the moment.
The Angels, who sit in second place, are four games below the .500 mark.
The Astros are 41-25 and own the second-best record in the American League behind the New York Yankees, who are destroying everyone in their path and are playing on another level.
The fact that the Astros increased their lead by almost five games this month is quite impressive and shows what the team is made of.
If you’re planning to win the AL West, you’re going to have to go through Houston first.
