This was going to be the year of the Philadelphia 76ers.
That’s what fans – and members of the team – were saying all summer long, after good news and progress from James Harden, Joel Embiid, and the rest of the crew.
It felt like things were moving in the right direction and that the NBA Finals really could be within their grasp.

As of now, the results of the season are decidedly mixed for the 76ers.
Their record is 4-5 and they are ranked 8th in the East, which is a long shot from what they wanted: the top seed all season.
The team has shown some greatness and Harden is looking far better than he has in years.
But now he’s hurt and the team’s numbers are painfully lacking.
They are 23rd in terms of defensive efficiency with a rating of 114.5.
Their points per game are 110.4, which puts them at 24th in the league, while their pace is toward the bottom of the NBA too.
Worst of all, they are dead last when it comes to rebounds per game.
These are not the sort of stats that inspire much confidence in the loyal Philly fanbase.
Looking For Luck In The City Of Brotherly Love
The good news here is that the season is still very young and there is a lot of time for the 76ers to turn it all around.
But if things don’t start evening out soon, you can expect to hear whispers of head coach Doc Rivers‘ imminent firing.
The fans of this team have waited long enough – and so has the front office.
The team was talking the talk all summer long, it’s time to prove they can walk the walk as well.
If they cannot and they are not able to build a stronger win record and improve their stats, big changes could be ahead.
