The San Francisco 49ers are making yet another quarterback change.
After Trey Lance went down in the early weeks of the 2022 NFL campaign, they decided to go back to Jimmy Garoppolo, who has since led the 49ers to an 8-3 record.
Welcome, Brock Purdy.
With Jimmy Garoppolo breaking his foot today, the 49ers starting QB now will be Brock Purdy, their rookie 7th-round pick from Iowa St.

In yesterday’s game, Purdy played incredibly well, especially considering he had only played in one other game this season and doesn’t regularly play with the starting cast for the 49ers.
In this game, Purdy was 25-37 for 210 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.
The 49ers ultimately won this game against the Miami Dolphins by a score of 33-17.
With Garoppolo out for the season, it will be up to Purdy to lead the 49ers for the rest of the season.
Purdy’s Collegiate Credentials
Although Purdy was taken in the seventh round by the 49ers, his play in college certainly gives the 49ers fanbase something to be excited about for the rest of the 2022 campaign.
In his senior season at Iowa State, Purdy had a 71.7% completion rate, en route to throwing for 3,188 yards, 19 touchdowns, and eight interceptions.
With weapons such as Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, and Christian McCaffrey, the 49ers have the offensive talent for Purdy to be successful in the NFL, if he can perform well.
The 49ers currently hold the top position in the NFC West, one game ahead of the Seattle Seahawks.
For the rest of the season, the 49ers’ opponents are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Seahawks, Washington Commanders, Las Vegas Raiders, and Arizona Cardinals.
These games will certainly give Purdy his fair share of challenges.
Will he rise to the occasion?
