The exodus of talent from the Houston Texans continued during the 2022 offseason.
Safety Justin Reid joined the Kansas City Chiefs on a three-year, $31.5 million deal, while outside linebacker Jacob Martin signed a three-year, $13.5 million deal with the New York Jets.
Those departures made the Texans turn their focus on defensive talent during the 2022 NFL Draft.
They drafted cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. with the third overall selection and safety Jalen Pitre in round two.
Houston also drafted linebacker Christian Harris and defensive tackle Thomas Booker.
But after the draft, the Texans continue to upgrade their defense through their latest signing.

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport tweeted, “Sources: The #Texans are signing #Seahawks FA pass-rusher Rasheem Green to a 1-year deal. Coming off a career year with 6.5 sacks, Green gives Houston a big post-draft boost off the edge.”
The Texans were near the bottom of the NFL in sacks last season with 32.
Only four teams had fewer than them (Kansas City Chiefs, Detroit Lions, Philadelphia Eagles, Atlanta Falcons).
Green’s ability to rush the quarterback will help the Texans limit the points they allow in each game.
A Quick Look At Green’s NFL Career
Green’s signing could be the low-key transaction that will give Houston huge dividends.
He had a breakout year in 2021 with 6.5 sacks, 19 tackles, and four passes defended (all career-highs).
His next best season came in 2019 with 14 solo tackles and four sacks.
The Seahawks drafted him in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft after playing for USC.
Before he joined Seattle, he was a First-Team All-Pac 12 with the Trojans.
