The Seattle Mariners weren’t terribly busy in the free agent market, but made plenty of impactful trades to boost their chances of returning to the postseason in 2023.
One of those key trades involved acquiring former All-Star outfielder Teoscar Hernandez in a trade with the Toronto Blue Jays.
Hernandez is at Mariners camp for the first time in his career and is ready to help Seattle make yet another postseason run this fall.
The former All-Star got a chance to catch up with MLB Network analysts Greg Amsinger and Dan Plesac and expressed his excitement for the 2023 season and how it feels for him to be a Mariner.
After being traded in the offseason, Teoscar Hernández spoke with Greg and @Plesac19 about the warm welcome to the @Mariners and getting big hits.#MLBTonight | #SpringTraining pic.twitter.com/FHgXI2rxci

Hernandez says that he already feels like he fits in quite nicely with the Mariners, and referred to the team as a “special group.”
He praised the core of star players on the Mariners roster, as well as the coaching staff, saying that he appreciates being welcomed by the team and that they made him feel like a part of the organization from the beginning.
Hernandez was then asked about all of the promising young stars he has had the chance to play with so far in his career.
He was teammates with Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette in Toronto, and was asked where he would rank the reigning American League Rookie of the Year, Julio Rodriguez.
Hernandez said that Rodriguez is right on the same level as the stars he played alongside in Toronto, praising him for his talents and what he has been able to accomplish.
