On Tuesday, Great Britain and Team Mexico squared off in the World Baseball Classic.
Team Mexico ultimately emerged victorious by a final score of 2-1.
Catcher Alexis Wilson led the way, picking up two hits and driving in both of Mexico’s runs.
Mexico improved to 2-1 in pool play and is now on the brink of the quarterfinals.
However, Taijuan Walker helped set the tone, pitching four scoreless innings and striking out eight batters.
After Mexico’s big win, the Philadelphia Phillies right-hander was interviewed by Jon Morosi of MLB Network and talked about his performance, which ultimately kept the team in the game and helped carry them to a win.

Walker discussed what made Tuesday’s performance so special.
He gave credit where credit was due, praising the crowd at Chase Field for their energy and discussing his pride for representing Team Mexico and his mother’s side of the family.
In fact, Walker’s mother was in attendance, and the veteran right-hander said he would make sure to tell her how much he loved her.
Walker was then asked about what it has been like for him to be able to pitch in the WBC.
The right-hander said that it’s been one of the best experiences of his life, once again praising the crowd for their energy and emotion and discussing the intensity of each game from the first pitch to the last.
Finally, Walker praised Wilson for his heroics.
Wilson was of course supposed to be the bullpen catcher, but is ultimately playing a much bigger role.
