Every year in the NFL, there are dozens of coaching rumors and speculations about who’s staying and who’s going on their respective teams.
Most times, coaches can see the writing on the wall when their time is coming to an end and their dismissal comes as no surprise.
For guys like Matt Nagy of the Chicago Bears and Rich Bisaccia, who’s filling in as interim head coach for the Las Vegas Raiders after Jon Gruden’s sudden dismissal, their dismissal would come as no surprise.
Matt Nagy is coaching like a guy who has accepted that he's fired and just wants to go quietly.

Even for Joe Judge of the New York Giants and Vic Fangio of the Denver Broncos, there are few in the NFL world who would be shocked if they were to be replaced.
There’s one particular coaching move, however, that would shock the NFL world, were it to happen.
Pete Carroll, Seattle Seahawks
From the moment that Pete Carroll took the leap from college head coach at USC to NFL coach for the Seattle Seahawks, he has been in the spotlight.
Carroll has enjoyed success wherever he has coached.
While at USC, Carroll coached the Trojans for nine seasons, winning an incredible 97 games, seven Pac-10 Titles, and two national championships during that time.
He coached dozens of players that went on to make it to the NFL and gained a reputation as a players’ coach.
For the Seahawks, he hasn’t been quite as successful, but then again, how could you match what he did at USC?
He’s currently in his 12th season as head coach of the Seahawks and has a record of 116-71 and has made it to the playoffs nine times in his 11 full seasons.
Seattle currently has a record of 4-8 and sit in last place in the NFC West.
They’re in danger of missing the playoffs for the first time since 2017 when they just missed out with a record of 9-7.
While they defeated San Francisco in their most recent game, things aren’t looking good for the Seahawks this year.
There’s even rumors that franchise quarterback Russell Wilson wants out, which could spell disaster for Carroll and the Seahawks.
Carroll is the oldest head coach in the NFL and a big part of his success has been directly tied to Wilson.
It’s over, man. Whether the Seahawks pick between Pete Carroll and Russell Wilson, keep both, or dispatch both, that era is over. There was one championship and it was pretty great.

The two form a combination similar to Bill Belichick and Tom Brady, Mike Tomlin and Big Ben, or Sean Payton and Drew Brees.
If Seattle is forced to move on from Wilson and start over at the quarterback position, Carroll might decide that he has had enough and retire.
He has been involved in coaching football for nearly half a century, and it’s safe to say that football is a part of who he is.
However, at 70 years old, he might not have the desire to start over with a new quarterback and a new offense.
Though he was signed to a five-year extension in 2020, the Seattle brass might rethink their commitment to Carroll if they move on from Wilson.
Carroll and the Seahawks also haven’t been able to recapture the success that they enjoyed in 2013 and 2014 when they went to back-to-back Super Bowls, winning one of the two.
Ever since Wilson’s infamous interception at the goal line with less than a minute to go, the Seahawks have failed to make it past the second round of the playoffs.
Don’t be surprised if the front office decides that it’s time for a change following the 2021 season.
