It seems that Robert Sarver, owner of the Phoenix Suns, is facing the biggest test of his career.
The NBA concluded its investigation into Sarver the other day and found that he had repeatedly used racist and sexist language and also committed offensive actions to his staff over the years.
The report about Sarver cast the owner of the team in a horribly bad light – yet he was only fined $10 million and suspended from the league for one year.
This felt slight to many fans, analysts, and stars of the league but the league reiterated that it didn’t have the power to take away his ownership position.
Phoenix Suns minority owner Jahm Najafi, who owns the second-largest stake in the team behind majority owner Robert Sarver, just released a statement.
In it, Najafi writes, in part:
"I am calling for the resignation of Robert Sarver."

Now the minority owner of the Suns, Jahm Najafi, is making his opinion known and it’s a stark one: he thinks that Sarver should go.
“I am calling for the resignation of Robert Sarver,” Najafi said.
We have already heard from LeBron James, Chris Paul, and others about this situation but the statement from Najafi might be the most damaging yet.
Sarver’s Suspension
There is a way for Sarver to lose his position with the team permanently and it would start with Najafi coming forward as he has.
Now he and the other minority owners of the team can work together to push Sarver out by proving that he acted unethically, which would be a violation of his agreement with the team.
Najafi’s statement proves that this situation is only going to escalate and the chances of Sarver completely leaving the team for good are now much higher.
A few days ago, it looked like he would skate by and be able to hold onto his ownership of the Suns.
Now that is in severe doubt.
