The Memphis Grizzlies are a hard-fighting team.
It’s been that way since the grit-and-grind days with Zach Randolph, Marc Gasol, Tony Allen, and Mike Conley, and it continues to be this way with the younger generation.
Needless to say, that means they need a defensive anchor dominating both ends of the glass.
And, while he might not be the flashiest guy in the league, Steven Adams has surely done an outstanding job with that as of late.
Adams had the best rebounding game of his career a couple of nights ago, grabbing a career-high 23 boards, 13 of those on the offensive end.
Moreover, when asked about his great performance, the big man had one of the most hilarious responses you could ever hear:
“We sucked at shooting. We kept missing shots, so I went and got them,” Adams jokingly said after the game. “Our fans are good. We’ve got good energy. You can hear them talking to the other team…it’s bloody brilliant,” Adams added.

This isn’t the first time that Adams has shown his sense of humor.
Just one month ago, he jokingly explained why he’s so good at grabbing boards:
“I’m a big bast***, mate,” the former Thunder big man joked. “Don’t expect one of these little dudes to control the boards.”
All jokes aside, Adams has had a major impact on the no.2-seeded Grizzlies, and Ja Morant believes it’s time people start giving him his flowers:
“I just feel like a lot of the stuff he does for us goes unnoticed,” Morant said. “it’s time for people to start watching.”
Hopefully, though, the Grizzlies won’t continue to suck at shooting.
