The Golden State Warriors needed to get hot fast, and that’s precisely what’s going on right now.
The Dubs are back to their winning ways after a season with more ups and downs than one would expect from the reigning NBA champions, and they’re finally playing like a team with some sense of urgency.
That was on full display again on Tuesday night when they came back from a huge deficit to obliterate the Portland Trail Blazers in the second half.
The Warriors trailed by as many as 23 points and wound up winning 123-105, showing a lot of character despite not having Stephen Curry, Andrew Wiggins, and Gary Payton II on the court.
That’s why coach Steve Kerr wanted to praise the rest of the guys for stepping up, pointing at how they’ve built some strong chemistry over the past couple of weeks.
“It just feels like we’re coming together. It feels like there’s some chemistry, some energy that’s forming,” Kerr said. “We’ve been battling all season and without Steph and Wiggs for so much of the season. And these guys have done a great job of just keeping our heads over water, and I think we can feel the finish line.”

Kerr also talked about the ‘reinforcements coming,’ as it won’t be long before Curry and Wiggins are back on the court and Payton is able to make his season debut with the team.
When healthy, the Warriors have proven that they’re capable of humiliating even the strongest of candidates on a nightly basis.
But they’re still in a tough spot right now, as they’re unlikely to clinch home-court advantage against any potential playoff rival, and they’ve been brutal on the road this season.
Even so, we know better than to count them out so early, and they’re not who you want to have in front of you during a seven-game series.
