The Kansas City Chiefs turned their franchise history around when they got Patrick Mahomes.
Mahomes was projected to be a second-round pick, yet his pro day and NFL Draft combine metrics were off the charts, becoming one of the quickest risers in the league.
The Chiefs traded up to get him, and the rest is history.
Despite being in the league for just six years  — five as a starter  — Pat has already done more than enough merits to be considered a first-ballot Hall of Famer.
He’s just getting started, and he’s dominated the league out of the gate like anyone  — not even Tom Brady or Joe Montana  — ever did.
That’s why ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith believes that Pat is already a top-3 quarterback in NFL history.
“Well, I got him top three,” Smith said on First Take. “Five years as a starter. Patrick Mahomes is 64 and 14. He’s never missed an AFC Championship Game. He’s gone to three Super Bowls; he’s won two Super Bowl titles, and, by the way, he was arguably the best player on the field on the Super Bowl that he lost; he was just running for his life because he had no offensive linesmen.”

While it may seem like he’s rushing to make that assessment, there’s no reason to think he can’t become the best player this game has ever seen once it’s all said and done.
Of course, Brady’s seven Super Bowl rings  — as well as the fact that he beat Mahomes in the twilight of his career  — will be tough to match, let alone overcome.
But Pat is durable, and it seems like he’s always got an ace up his sleeve when the rival defense thinks they finally figured him out.
So, you may not be ready to put him in your Mt. Rushmore just yet, but just like Thanos in those Avengers movies, Patrick Mahomes is inevitable; it’s just a matter of time before he gets to you as well.
