Since coming to the Dallas Mavericks in February, Kyrie Irving has averaged 27.5 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 6.6 assists a game.
Shooting 51.2% from the field, he has instantly become a great second option for the team and a wonderful asset alongside Luka Doncic.
The impressive output of Irving has people wondering how much his next contract extension could be worth.
NBA analyst Stephen A Smith stated that if Irving is playing hard and doing his job then he should get paid well.
“If Kyrie Irving – with all of his shenanigans, all of his issues, whatever they may be – if Kyrie Irving is going to show up to work, ladies and gentlemen, pay that brother $50 million a year,” Smith said.
If Kyrie Irving is going to SHOW UP to work and DO HIS JOB…pay the man. He is SPECIAL.
I’d buy him some sage too. I’d have sage all over the damn arena!

Smith said that Irving is deserving of a four-or-five year deal worth $200 million as long as he shows up “to work.”
Irving has definitely created some headaches for his previous teams, especially the Brooklyn Nets and Boston Celtics.
But there is no denying that he’s still one of the best guards in the league and can provide a huge boost for just about any team.
However, his controversies and the nasty headlines about him might make some front offices hesitant to sign him to a longer-term deal.
When you look at him solely as a basketball player, you cannot deny his greatness and Smith’s statement about his worth makes a lot of sense.
Irving and the Mavericks will have to decide their future together this summer.
Will Irving remain in Dallas or will he move on to his next team?
If he continues to play very well for the rest of the season, the Mavericks might heed Smith’s advice.
