The Phoenix Suns and Dallas Mavericks gave fans a great opening night game on Wednesday.
At first, it looked as if the Mavs were going to create a repeat of their Game 7 slaying of the Suns from last season’s Western Conference Semifinals.
However, the Suns stuck with it and got back into the game, slowly but surely.
It all came to a head with Damion Lee‘s game-winning buzzer-beater that put the team up by two in the final seconds.

Lee, a former Golden State Warrior, was met with raucous applause from the fans in the arena.
He also received a lot of love all the way from the Bay Area.
Stephen Curry posted a video of him quite literally shouting out Lee following the clutch shot.
He was so loud and enthusiastic that he actually woke up his sleeping children.
However, Curry didn’t seem to regret that at all.
Lee Supreme
Last season with the Warriors, Lee posted 7.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1 assist a game.
If he continues to perform as he did on opening night, he will get many more minutes and many more chances to shine.
Some people were shocked to see Chris Paul sitting on the bench in the closing minutes of the game but the work done by Lee shows that head coach Monty Williams made the right choice with this roster.
The team is obviously a very competitive one, despite the way that last season ended.
While they are mostly known for Paul and Devin Booker, the team will be stronger when it has a better and deeper bench.
Lee is part of that bench – at least for now.
Following this first game, he might be earning a starting spot.
