It’s safe to say that the Los Angeles Lakers are having a very difficult season.
There were high hopes for the team last summer when they acquired Russell Westbrook from the Washington Wizards.
Quite a few NBA analysts thought that LA could go all the way this year, possibly matching up against the Brooklyn Nets in the NBA Finals.
Well, that definitely isn’t happening and the team will be lucky to even make the playoffs at this point.
LA took a huge gamble when they got Westbrook and it looks like it’s not paying off.
But is the controversial player turning things around?

During his last three games, Westbrook has averaged 21.3 points, 8 rebounds, and 9.7 assists with a 53.2% field goal percentage and 8-from-16 from the three-point line.
Those are pretty solid numbers and push back against the assertion that he is washed up.
So should LA stick with him?
Ride It Out Russ?
He is currently attached to a monster contract with the Lakers and it will be really hard to trade him.
It is possible though and there are many people who think that Westbrook will be gone from the team by this time next year.
But if he’s starting to play better should the team decide to keep him around?
Actually, Westbrook performing at a higher level could help a trade happen.
If Westbrook continues to heat up, his trade value will be higher and other teams might be interested in taking a chance on him.
In all likelihood, LA will probably decide to part ways with Westbrook in a few months no matter how the rest of the season goes.
But an improved Westbrook means a better trade market so his last few games are a promising development for the Lakers.
