The New York Yankees were busy late on Wednesday night.
After their walk-off loss to the New York Mets, the Yanks made a deal with the Kansas City Royals to acquire All-Star outfielder and former Boston Red Sox star Andrew Benintendi.
Trade season is officially upon us and the phones are ringing.
But this deal should come as no surprise.
The Yankees are almost always active at trade deadlines and manage to find ways to land star players.
ESPN Stats & Info tweeted an interesting little fact about the Yankees and their ability to land stars, that it’s the eighth time the Yankees have managed to make a mid-season trade for a player who had been an All-Star the same year.
This is the 8th time the Yankees have made a mid-season trade for a player who made an All-Star team earlier that same season.
No other team in MLB history has made more than 5 such trades. https://t.co/D2j5uDdpLV

Yanks Land Another Star
This is impressive.
The Yankees are a team that is always looking for ways to improve and give themselves a better shot at winning.
The move for Benintendi is a win-now move for a team that is going for it.
They have the best record in all of baseball and they have their sights set on title No. 28.
Benintendi certainly helps with that.
And it was around this time last year that the Yankees traded for Anthony Rizzo and Joey Gallo, so it just goes to show how the Yankees are always aggressive when trying to add talent to their roster.
With Benintendi on board, the Yankees now have a little something extra in their lineup.
This gives them somebody who can produce and pick up some the slack since Gallo hasn’t been producing.
Gallo might also be on his way out soon after this trade.
But trade season is finally upon us, and it’s going to be a crazy couple of days.
