When the Seattle Seahawks traded quarterback Russell Wilson in the offseason, there was speculation surrounding the team and its ability to be successful without Wilson.
However, the play of quarterback Geno Smith has certainly been encouraging, to say the least.
29 QBs have played at least 50% of dropbacks this season:

Currently, Smith is leading the league in completion percentage and is also a full 13.8 percentage points ahead of Wilson.
Not only did the Seahawks get five total NFL draft picks from the Broncos, but they also received a backup quarterback in Drew Lock, a defensive tackle in Shelby Harris, and a tight end in Noah Fant.
Both on paper, and in practice, at least up to this point, the Seahawks have won this trade.
Geno Smith’s 2022 Statistics
Besides leading the league in completion percentage, Smith is putting together a positive statistical season as well.
Smith is currently sixth in total passing yards with 2,802, fifth in quarterback rating and touchdown passes (64.2 and 19, respectively), and has only thrown five interceptions.
Smith has panned out better than the Seahawks could have ever expected.
He has developed a rapport with receivers Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf and has gained the trust of his coach, Pete Carroll.
The best part of it all is that Smith is not only making his stats look good, but the team is winning as well.
Sitting at 6-5, the Seahawks are just one game behind the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC West and are in a prime position to make the playoffs.
Smith and the Seahawks might just turn out alright after all.
