Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets took the MVP trophy home last season and some people have speculated that he could do it again this year.
The competition is fierce but when you look at the cold, hard numbers, you see that few other players in the league are like him.

StatMuse pointed out an amazing fact: Jokic has more triple-doubles than the Boston Celtics, Golden State Warriors, New York Knicks, Detroit Pistons, Washington Wizards, Phoenix Suns, Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Toronto Raptors, and Memphis Grizzlies…combined.
Jokic is like a one-man team and is putting up more impressive stats by himself than entire teams are capable of as units.
So is the MVP trophy his to lose?
Not Joking Around
Jokic really is one of a kind.
He’s a big, physically imposing player but he also has the ability to move and pass like a man half his size.
He doesn’t play like a typical center and that’s part of what makes him so dangerous.
As great as Jokic is, there are other guys in the league who are desperate to take the MVP throne from him.
Joel Embiid and Giannis Antetokounmpo are just two of the players who are putting up incredible numbers and making cases to take MVP.
Despite their phenomenal seasons, Jokic is still the front-runner.
The latest NBA MVP straw poll has Jokic far-and-away the top dog in the competition.
However, a lot can change in the final weeks of the season and there is a chance that Embiid or Antetokounmpo could end up winning MVP.
And don’t forget about other stars in the league, such as Ja Morant or the surging Jayson Tatum.
If he wins MVP or not, no one can deny that Jokic is once again having a historic season.
