The race for the NL Central crown is over and the division title belongs to the St. Louis Cardinals.
With a 6-2 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday night, the Cards secured their 12th division title.
The Brewers aren’t technically mathematically eliminated just yet.
For if they win out and the Cards lose all the rest of their games, they could finish tied, but the Cards would have the title based on winning the season series.
But since the Central divisions were formed back in 1994, the Cardinals have been the team to win the most NL Central division titles.
One Cardinals fan pointed out a fact on Twitter that goes a long way in proving how the Cardinals really are the best team in the Central.
The Cardinals have as many NL Central division titles as the Cubs, Brewers, Reds and Pirates combined. #STLCards

Why The Cards Own The Central
The Cardinals proved this year why they are the team to beat in the Central.
They came out of the gates playing good baseball, overcame a ton of adversity, made key moves at the trade deadline, and ultimately ended up where they are now.
The fact that they have as many division titles as the rest of the teams in the division goes to show how they truly own the division.
Sure, the Brewers, the Chicago Cubs, and the Cincinnati Reds have taken a few division titles along the way, but it’s the Cardinals who have been the most consistent team in the Central.
They’ve won two World Series titles and four National League Pennants since the division was formed.
They’ve also gotten as far as the NLCS 11 times dating back to 1996, when they won their first NL Central title.
St. Louis will open up the Wild Card Series next Friday at Busch Stadium.
