There are few investments as smart as an NBA team.
Owning, or even co-owning a team, is a great way to make a huge return on your investment and can net you billions of dollars over the years.
But, you also have to actually have billions before you can even take a run at buying a team because these things do not come cheap.

Boxer Floyd Mayweather says he’s worth at least $1 billion, although most estimates say his value is closer to $450-$560 million.
That is definitely enough to at least become a co-owner of an NBA team.
But Mayweather is aiming higher than that: it is being reported that he has been working on buying an NBA team outright and recently made a $2 billion offer.
It’s not clear how he has so much money but an offer is an offer, if it is real then it could move forward.
Now we wait and see if any deal comes together and Mayweather becomes the latest owner in the NBA.
Money Mayweather
At a recent public event, Mayweather came straight out and said that he was attempting to buy a team.
He wasn’t very specific about which team it would be or if he would move it but he made it clear that he’s compiled the cash.
Mayweather’s comments:
“It could be the Vegas franchise. It could be the Seattle franchise or I could be buying a franchise that’s already up and running. So the first offer, we offered them a little over $2 billion for majority ownership. Do I have it? Absolutely, I have it, but it didn’t happen overnight.”
The only team that is looking for a new owner right now is the Phoenix Suns but we have no idea if Mayweather is talking to that front office or another.
