Minnesota Twins starter Sonny Gray completely shut down the Detroit Tigers’ offense on Tuesday.
He was on the mound for seven innings, in which he allowed no runs, four hits, and a single walk.
Oh, and he struck out 10 hitters in the masterpiece.
He made some history with his terrific outing.
“Every #MNTwins pitcher with an outing of 7+ scoreless innings and 10+ strikeouts in the last decade: José Berríos, Ervin Santana, Sonny Gray,” MLB.com’s Do-Hyoung Park tweeted on Wednesday.

Berrios and Santana are very important to the Twins’ recent history, and both are respected hurlers in Minnesota.
2022 is Gray’s first season with the organization, but if he keeps pitching like he has, he has a good chance of turning into a beloved contributor, too.
Gray Is Having One Of The Finest Seasons Of His Career
After a subpar 2021 – for his standards – with the Cincinnati Reds, the right-hander is now showing his best stuff.
In 2022, Gray has a 2-1 record with a 2.60 ERA in 27.2 innings.
He has accumulated 35 punchouts and has a solid 1.12 WHIP.
The Twins rotation was in dire need of an ace this year, and it got it in Gray.
His presence allows the rest of the young pitchers in the organization, such as Joe Ryan, Jhoan Duran, and Josh Winder, to focus on getting outs and not on leading the rotation.
The Twins are doing very well in the standings, leading the AL Central division with a 5.5-game cushion, and it has been in large part thanks to Gray’s excellent performances on the mound.
He is an integral part of their 2022 plans, and if he remains healthy, Minnesota has a chance of displacing the Chicago White Sox as the kings of the division.
