Sports memorabilia is all the rage, with sports fans with deep pockets shelling out large amounts of money for historical items.
Along with sports cards trending back up and becoming a major business again, a lot of high-priced memorabilia has made headlines as of late for being sold at auction for extremely high dollar amounts.
One of the latest pieces of memorabilia that made headlines for selling for an enormous amount of money was a pair of game-worn NBA shoes.
Those shoes were worn by none other than NBA icon and Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan.

As arguably the greatest basketball player of all time, if not the greatest athlete of all time, Jordan has the Midas touch, as anything he has worn on the court or signed off the court is potentially worth millions of dollars.
Jordan’s shoes from the 1998 NBA Finals were no different, with them being sold for $2.2 million, which is the highest price ever paid for a pair of sneakers at an auction.
As the NBA becomes more and more popular, and memorabilia becomes more popular as a result, this record set by Jordan’s shoes might not last for long as it set the bar for something like this in an auction.
Only time will tell if this number sets the bar for the foreseeable future and if anything comes close to matching or surpassing this massive amount, as few players have been able to come close to the popularity of Jordan and memorabilia involving the six-time NBA champion.
