The Denver Broncos took a page from the Los Angeles Rams’ script for success.
During the 2021 offseason, the Rams acquired Matthew Stafford in exchange for Jared Goff, a 2021 third-round pick, and first-round selections in the 2022 and 2023 drafts.
Experts criticized the Rams for betting their chips for a quarterback that hasn’t won a playoff game.
However, no one’s badmouthing general manager Les Snead now after Stafford helped the Rams win Super Bowl LVI.
That’s the same result Denver would like to achieve by trading for All-Pro quarterback Russell Wilson.
The Broncos paid a hefty price for a play-caller that has won a Super Bowl.
Aside from Wilson, the Broncos acquired a fourth-round pick from the Seahawks.
Meanwhile, the Seahawks received quarterback Drew Lock, tight end Noah Fant, and defensive lineman Shelby Harris.
Seattle also received the Broncos’ first-round picks in the 2022 and 2023 drafts, as well as Denver’s fifth-round pick in 2022.
The treasure trove of picks could prove costly for the Broncos if the Seahawks put those assets into good use.
However, sports media personality Skip Bayless knows which team won the trade.
Denver just stole Russell Wilson from Seattle. Congrats, Broncos. Condolences, Seahawks.

Bayless tweeted, “Denver just stole Russell Wilson from Seattle. Congrats, Broncos. Condolences, Seahawks.”
Making Sense Of Bayless’ Tweet
Essentially, the Broncos got Wilson for nothing.
The Seahawks are competitively dead because they don’t have their leader on offense unless Lock suddenly turns into Wilson, which is absurd.
Some people might argue that the treasure trove of picks Seattle acquired means that they’ve won the trade.
However, draft picks are always a gamble because there are more misses than hits.
Given the way the Seahawks have drafted over the years, the front office might not be able to compensate for Wilson’s departure.
Meanwhile, the Broncos addressed the biggest hole in their already talented roster.
With one move, they’ve positioned themselves to become a legitimate contender over the next few years.
