NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal recently made the news for comparing Deion Sanders with Phil Jackson.
Sanders has made a huge impact on two teams now, getting young men to buy in on his system and run through a wall for him.
He’s been an elite motivator who inspires nothing but the utmost respect for him, and when he talks, everybody else listens.
However, Skip Bayless doesn’t seem to agree with Shaq’s assessment.
Shaq compares Coach Prime to Phil Jackson, @RealSkipBayless reacts:
“In a way, it’s almost offensive to me that we’re putting Phil in the same sentence as Deion because there’s no phony-baloney to Deion at all.” pic.twitter.com/6xD02539O5

In the latest edition of “Undisputed,” the often-controversial pundit took several shots at Jackson, stating that he cannot be compared to Sanders.
Moreover, he pretty much called Jackson a fraud, stating that there was a lot of “phony-baloney” about him and that he was shocked about the fact that Michael Jordan actually bought in on that.
He said that he had a mystique about him because he didn’t talk or call timeouts, so people thought he was a genius because he had the greatest player in NBA history.
Jackson is one of the greatest coaches in sports history, winner of three three-peats and 11 rings overall.
Granted that he had some of the best players ever and that he didn’t fare well as an executive, but from that to call him phony might not be accurate.
As for Sanders, he has a bright future as a coach, there’s no doubt about that, but maybe we should also pump the brakes on the comparisons, at least for now.
