It is a very dark time for fans of the Dallas Mavericks.
At this point last season, the team was surging and would eventually oust the Phoenix Suns in the playoffs before facing the eventual champions, the Golden State Warriors, in the Western Conference Finals.
But after another dreadful loss on Sunday, the Mavericks are now 11th in their conference and are at risk of not even qualifying for the play-in tournament next month.
Skip Bayless unloaded on the team Monday morning, calling them a “disaster” that is “free falling.”
Bayless noted that fans of the team were booing the Mavericks, which is a sign of just how much this team has cratered.

At this point, even making the play-in games would be a big accomplishment.
But it will take a lot of work.
Even with Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, the Mavericks are in horrible shape.
They have lost their last seven of nine games, defeated by teams such as the Memphis Grizzlies (three times), Golden State Warriors, and Charlotte Hornets.
Everyone, from Doncic to Irving to head coach Jason Kidd, seem unhappy with the direction of the team and it’s clear the team’s morale is at its nadir.
Bayless said the team is free-falling and they are doing so at the absolute worst time.
The team has just seven more games and a few of them are against really tough teams like the Philadelphia 76ers and Sacramento Kings.
The Western Conference is very tight so they could score a few wins and get back into postseason contention.
But that will require a level of expertise and determination that we haven’t seen from the Mavericks lately.
