Los Angeles Angels two-way phenom Shohei Ohtani is best known for his ability to both pitch like an ace and hit 450+ foot home runs.
But there’s more to him than just that.
Of course, he’s arguably the best player in all of baseball today.
He is the reigning AL MVP after all.
But he’s got a penchant for a little humor too.
Jomboy Media tweeted a collage of pictures of Ohtani hanging out with Angels shortstop Tyler Wade and revealed that Ohtani has a funny nickname for his teammate.
He calls Wade “Ikemen,” which is Japanese for “Hot Guy,” because that is what people in Japan call Wade when they see pictures of him with Ohtani.
Shohei Ohtani only addresses Tyler Wade as “Ikemen”
Why? Because it means “hot guy” in Japanese, and that’s what the people in Japan say when they see Wade in pictures with Ohtani

MVP Of Humor
Ohtani may be an MVP on the baseball field, but it appears he’s an MVP off the field with his unique sense of humor.
Apparently, people in Japan think Wade is a pretty good-looking dude.
But what a hilarious nickname for Wade gifted to him by arguably the greatest player in the game.
That’s some pretty healthy respect right there.
Who wouldn’t want to be called “Hot Guy” by Shohei Ohtani?
That’s just an honor.
Wade is lucky to have earned such a great honor from his All-Star teammate.
It’s nice to be looked at in such high regard.
The people of Japan already love Ohtani, but now they’ve got a reason to love Wade as well.
But those people deserve a ton of credit for coming up with that nickname.
Wade has a reason to feel special now.
He’s got a whole country behind him and referring to him as “Hot Guy.”
What can be better than that?
