If the New York Jets truly want Aaron Rodgers, they better be aware of the fact that he comes with some extra baggage.
Of course, he’ll be an MVP candidate in the regular season, and a massive upgrade over Zach Wilson.
But, there could also be unnecessary drama.
The Green Bay Packers want him to join the Jets — go figure — and both parties have already agreed on the terms of a deal.
So, what’s missing? His blessing.
That’s why Pro Football Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe called him out again, this time for keeping the Jets hostage instead of announcing his decision right away.
.@ShannonSharpe on the Packers and Jets still awaiting Aaron Rodgers’ decision:
“Typical Aaron, holding teams hostage with his decision. The quicker he moves to the Jets, the quicker I’m going to forget him stinking it up the last 3 years, even with 2 MVPs.” pic.twitter.com/mHc7nMeHlI

Rodgers knows the Jets want him; the Jets know he wants to play for them, so what’s the hold-up about?
Maybe, he doesn’t want Adam Schefter or Ian Rapoport to be right about their reports, and he’s proven to be petty enough to go the extra mile just to be right.
And while he’s got every right to have a feud with the media, he’s hurting two teams at once by delaying the inevitable.
The Jets need to know what they have on their hands so they can put a better team around him and for him.
But he’s been all about controlling the news cycle, maybe in an attempt to keep the fans and media from calling him out for his well-documented struggles in the postseason.
