As of now, the Los Angeles Lakers are the seventh seed in the Western Conference.
That means that if the standings hold, they have one major hurdle to get through in order to reach the playoffs.
They will have to fight through the play-in tournament if they wish to claim a spot in the postseason.
In order for this to happen, Anthony Davis needs to bring his A-game.
That is according to NBA analyst Shannon Sharpe, who spoke about Davis and the rest of the team on Friday’s “Undisputed”.
“Anthony Davis needs to be dominant,” Sharpe said as he talked about the Lakers’ possible matchups against the New Orleans Pelicans in the play-in games and the Memphis Grizzlies in the first round of the playoffs.

If the Lakers remain the seventh seed, it is very likely they will need to play against Davis’ former team, the Pelicans, in next week’s play-in tournament.
It’ll be there that Davis will have to show what he is capable of.
He will have to perform with fierce determination and power and not look like the Davis we saw during the recent Clippers loss, according to Sharpe.
Sharpe feels that can happen and it would lead the Lakers to an opening round against the Grizzlies.
Sharpe and co-host Skip Bayless commented on how LA and Memphis don’t care for each other and are constantly “chirping” back and forth.
It’ll definitely be an intense series.
But Sharpe believes the Lakers can win in seven games, as long as Davis plays with the sort of authority he has been showing lately.
A lot can change in the next few days but it looks like the Lakers are headed to the play-in games.
If they want to get beyond that, Davis will need to show up in a huge way.
