Over the past couple of years, NFL Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe has also become a prominent figure in the sports-pundit industry.
Sharpe joined Skip Bayless on Fox’s Undisputed, constantly debating the often-controversial analyst.
Shannon usually sides with LeBron James and isn’t a huge fan of Tom Brady, with Skip taking the opposite stance day in and day out.
Wash, rinse, repeat.
However, what was usually a showboating debate for the ratings got a little out of hand lately.
Bayless started taking cheap shots at Sharpe, trying to diminish and shut down his opinions and takes and even sharing some personal opinions about the legendary tight end.
Things got even more heated when Sharpe decided to skip the show after Bayless’ tasteless, insensitive, and reprehensible comments on Damar Hamlin, with some speculating that this could be the end of the show.
Sharpe, however, tried to bury the hatchet, and he recently confirmed that he had to pull Skip aside to try and work through their differences to salvage their future together.
Shannon admits that he’s actually quite grateful to Bayless for giving him the opportunity and the platform to prove that he could provide some value to the talking-head industry as a former athlete, and praised their ability to talk things through and get back on good terms:
“I didn’t want that, and I appreciate everything Skip had done for me,” Sharpe said on SiriusXM. “Bringing me there, giving me an opportunity to show that I was more than a football player; I could talk about more in the sports world than just football. I wasn’t willing to throw that away. Skip, and I just needed to go into a room and talk and calm our heads.”
That’s great news for Fox, as Undisputed will continue to create countless headlines, even if it’s mostly with people mocking and insulting Bayless for his head-scratching takes and uncalled-for shots at countless athletes.
