For a while, it looked like the Seattle Seahawks had no plans to bring in new quarterbacks.
It seems as if they were content with only Drew Lock as their potential starter.
Everyone who has seen him play with the Denver Broncos knows that he did not elevate the team’s performance.
If he had pedestrian numbers despite a talented receiving corps, what’s the indication that things will be different in Seattle?
However, the Seahawks are adding color to their strategy under center, as shared by NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero.
Cincinnati QB Desmond Ridder is visiting the #Seahawks today, per source. The first (and only?) known pre-draft quarterback visit for Seattle.

Pelissero tweeted, “Cincinnati QB Desmond Ridder is visiting the #Seahawks today, per source. The first (and only?) known pre-draft quarterback visit for Seattle.”
Unless the Seahawks invite other prospects for a visit, Ridder will be the only aspirant to make a tour of the team’s facility.
Ridder is a solid option after becoming last season’s AAC Offensive Player of the Year.
He also led the Cincinnati Bearcats to the College Football Playoff after a season with 3,334 yards and 30 touchdowns.
However, quality of opposition will be the biggest knock against Ridder, given that he did not play for a Power Five conference.
Seahawks Opting To Go Quarterback Next Season?
Bringing Ridder for a visit could mean two things for the Seahawks.
First, they believe that he could be Russell Wilson‘s worthy successor.
Second, they are not bothering to acquire a quarterback in this year’s draft.
If they are keen on getting a play-caller, they should have invited the likes of Kenny Pickett, Matt Corral, and Malik Willis as well.
But as mentioned since the Scouting Combine, none of these quarterback prospects have separated themselves as a can’t-miss talent.
They could be intrigued with Ridder, but it doesn’t mean they will draft him.
In that case, the Seahawks will see what Lock could do and make their push for a rookie quarterback in 2023.
