It’s been a week since Scott Rolen became the newest member of the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown.
The 17-year veteran enjoyed a successful career with the Philadelphia Phillies, St. Louis Cardinals, Toronto Blue Jays, and Cincinnati Reds.
Last week, he finally got the call to Cooperstown.
Naturally, Rolen was humbled by this tremendous honor.
His son, Finn, was overcome with emotion and joy, feeling a sense of pride for his dad’s accomplishment.
Recently, Rolen caught up with Jim Hayes of Bally Sports Midwest, the TV home of the Cardinals, and revealed that while his son was overcome with emotion, he fought through the tears and asked his dad if he wanted to play catch.
Rolen tells @TheCatOnBallyTV his reaction to being elected to the Hall of Fame: "We couldn't believe it and cried and hugged. … Finn (Rolen's son) kind of broke down… and asked if we could go out in the driveway and play catch. He and I went out and threw the ball around." pic.twitter.com/drs6DT5ukq

This is of course a nod to “Field of Dreams”, when Ray Kinsella sees his father for the first time and gets a chance to play catch with him.
This is also the perfect wholesome reaction to a moment such as this.
Rolen was one of the fiercest competitors in all of baseball during his playing days and always took his craft seriously.
Obviously, his son understands how long and hard of a journey it was to get into the Hall, and had the perfect reaction to his dad’s big accomplishment.
And so, father and son played a little catch in their driveway to celebrate the big moment.
Rolen can now stand among the greats in baseball history, and his son can say that his father is now a Hall of Fame baseball player.
