Scott Rolen received the honor of a lifetime when he learned that he had been elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown and would be joining Fred McGriff as part of the Class of 2023.
Rolen played 17 seasons in Major League Baseball, spending time with the Philadelphia Phillies, St. Louis Cardinals, Toronto Blue Jays, and Cincinnati Reds.
Today, he got the chance to sign his name on the Hall of Fame wall, where previous players have signed their names.
And he made a pretty good choice on where to sign, etching his name next to the late great Roy Halladay, his teammate in Toronto.

Rolen joined the Blue Jays in 2008 after the Cardinals traded him for Troy Glaus.
He was with the Blue Jays until 2009, when he was traded to the Reds.
But he, like many others in baseball history, shared a connection with Halladay.
Not only were they teammates in Toronto, but they also each spent time in Philadelphia at different points in their careers.
Rolen was in the lineup for the Reds in Game 1 of the NLDS in 2010 when Halladay threw the first postseason no-hitter since Don Larsen‘s perfect game in Game 5 of the 1956 World Series.
The newest member of the Hall of Fame was also teammates with one of Halladay’s best friend in Cardinals legend Chris Carpenter.
Carpenter joined the Cardinals in 2003 and the two won a World Series together in 2006.
And so, it’s only appropriate that Rolen chose to pay respects to an old friend and fellow MLB legend.
