He wasn’t in his best condition over the past two seasons due to a season-ending ACL injury in 2020.
Last season, he only had 593 rushing yards and two touchdowns in 13 games.
One year makes a difference because he has helped his squad to a 3-1 record.
Likewise, he is gaining yards at a historic pace.

ESPN’s Jordan Raanan tweeted, “Your weekly reminder that Saquon Barkley is good at football (when healthy).”
He then enumerated the Giants players who had the most rushing yards through four games.
Barkley tops the list with a league-leading 463 yards, edging Tiki Barber‘s total in 2004 by eight yards.
He also has two rushing touchdowns and averages 5.5 yards per carry.
Rodney Hampton had 430 yards through Week 4 in 1993, and Barber had 391 in 2003.
Barkley placed the league on notice with a 164-yard performance in their season opener against the Tennessee Titans.
He had 72 in Week 2 versus the Carolina Panthers and 81 in Week 3, wherein they lost to the Dallas Cowboys.
The former Penn State standout finished with 146 yards in Week 4 against the Chicago Bears.
Barkley Getting His Old Form Back
The fifth-year veteran is on pace for 1,968 yards and eight touchdowns this season.
That number will be his highest output since his rookie season, wherein he had 1,307 yards.
But with each team finding ways to neutralize him, head coach Brian Daboll must come up with more ways to maximize his talent on offense.
Barkley also has 15 receptions for 107 yards through four games.
He can add to that total once they face the Green Bay Packers in Week 5.
Barkley may have a field day because the Packers rank 22nd in run defense, surrendering 126.8 yards per game.
