New Orleans Saints quarterback Jameis Winston was not available during the open portion of their practices for two straight days.
His absence could be a cause of concern before their Week 4 game against the Minnesota Vikings at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England.
Winston was listed on the Saints’ injury report for dealing with back and ankle injuries.
For that reason, Andy Dalton took reps with the starters while Taysom Hill played with the second unit.
Likewise, Saints offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael’s response isn’t reassuring either.
Saints offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael said the decision to not practice Jameis Winston was made this morning and that his status will continue to basically be day to day. He wouldn’t say if he would start Sunday. “I’ll let Dennis (Allen) make that call.”

NOLA.com and The Times-Picayune columnist Jeff Duncan tweeted, “Saints offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael said the decision to not practice Jameis Winston was made this morning and that his status will continue to basically be day to day. He wouldn’t say if he would start Sunday. ‘I’ll let Dennis (Allen) make that call.'”
Winston was listed as questionable for the same injuries before their Week 3 game against the Carolina Panthers.
However, the former number one draft pick suited up and finished with 353 yards in the loss.
With their game fast approaching, Allen will come up with a decision soon.
Banged Up Saints
Winston isn’t the only Saints player dealing with an injury.
Tre’Quan Smith is on concussion protocol, while Jarvis Landry is nursing an ankle injury.
Fellow wideouts Deonte Harty and Michael Thomas are dealing with foot injuries.
Hill, running back Alvin Kamara, and safety Marcus Maye are on the mend with rib injuries.
Meanwhile, defensive backs Marcus Davenport and J.T Gray have shoulder injuries.
Cornerback Paulson Adebo is also nursing an ankle injury, while offensive guard Andrus Peat is also under concussion protocol.
Tackle Ryan Ramczyk had limited participation during Thursday’s practice due to rest.
