The New Orleans Saints are undergoing massive changes.
Longtime head coach Sean Payton stepped away from the sidelines, leading the team to promote former defensive coordinator Dennis Allen.
However, that’s not the only change they might endure because Jameis Winston will become a free agent.
He is free to sign with any team because the Saints do not hold his rights anymore.
Still, the team hopes that Winston will return, as shared by this tweet by beat writer Nick Underhill.
Mickey Loomis: “Jameis is an option for us and we hope we’re an option for Jameis”

Underhill shared a quote from Saints general manager Mickey Loomis, saying, “Jameis is an option for us and we hope we’re an option for Jameis.”
Winston signed a one-year deal worth $5.5 million last season.
He made the most of his experience by leading the team to a 5-2 record before suffering a season-ending ACL tear.
Since he left, the Saints fell on hard times under quarterbacks Trevor Siemian and Taysom Hill.
The Saints missed the playoffs with a 9-8 record.
After an abrupt end to their 2021 campaign, the team must address their salary cap concerns because they are $44 million over the projected 2022 ceiling.
Winston Is Auditioning For A Starting Role
After the surgery on his injured knee, Winston seems to be doing well based on the short training videos he shared online.
There’s an exercise wherein he was running on an anti-gravity machine and he also performed drills on an agility ladder.
There were also clips that showed his movement and his exercises to improve his balance.
One video also showed him already throwing footballs on a field.
It seems that his recovery is on track and his agent will receive a number of phone calls from interested teams.
Therefore, the Saints would have to get in line if they want to bring him back.
