The Arizona Diamondbacks are a team that could potentially be headed towards a return to postseason contention in a few short years.
This season, they’ve taken some very important steps towards respectability.
They still are 66-74, but they’ve been buoyed by a ton of contributions from their young players such as Corbin Carroll.
Another young stud has entered the chat.
This time, it’s right-handed pitcher Ryne Nelson.
He tossed seven scoreless innings in his MLB debut last week.
Last night, he made his first start at Chase Field.
Though Arizona ultimately lost, Nelson gave them six shutout innings in his home debut.

Nelson Begins Career In Style
This is a great way to start off your MLB career.
Perhaps Nelson is yet another young player that could be a huge piece for Arizona going forward as they look to build a contender.
If his last two starts were any indication, then he’s on a solid trajectory.
Not many guys can say that in just their second career start they tossed six scoreless innings against a team as powerful as the Dodgers are offensively.
But Nelson can.
He’s put on a nice little show for fans of the D’Backs over his past two starts and is giving them a nice little glimpse into what the future could hold.
The future could in fact be very bright for the D’Backs.
This year is a lost cause, but that doesn’t mean that young stars won’t burst onto the scene and make a case to stay for a long time.
We’ll see what his next few starts bring.
His first two starts were a pretty good indication that he may turn into an ace in the future.
