In a matter of minutes, the Denver Broncos turned sorrow into joy.
They may have missed out on reigning Most Valuable Player Aaron Rodgers, but they pulled off a successful trade for Russell Wilson.
The accomplishments of the former Seattle Seahawks play-caller are nothing to be sneered at because he brought a Super Bowl to the franchise.
He is also a nine-time Pro Bowler and a Second-Team All-Pro.
But now that Wilson will be playing in a new atmosphere, he will try to emulate what a Hall of Famer gave to the Mile High City.
Before that discussion, Pro Football Focus writer Ari Meirov traced the timeline of Broncos quarterbacks from 2010 until the present.
#Broncos QB history is fascinating:
2010: Orton
2011: Tebow
–> 2012-2015: Peyton Manning
2016: Siemian
2017: Siemian
2018: Keenum
2019: Flacco
2020: Lock
2021: Bridgewater
–> 2022: Russell Wilson— Ari Meirov (@MySportsUpdate) March 8, 2022
Meirov tweeted that Denver went from Kyle Orton to Tim Tebow before Peyton Manning joined the team in 2012.
He lasted four seasons before Trevor Siemian took over.
Case Keenum, Joe Flacco, Drew Lock, and Teddy Bridgewater all took turns in starting under center before Wilson will take over in 2022.
Wilson Would Love To Do A Peyton Manning
The career trajectory of both Manning and Wilson are eerily similar.
They both won Super Bowls before joining the Broncos, with Manning winning Super Bowl XLI with the Indianapolis Colts.
Meanwhile, Wilson took home Super Bowl XLVIII with the Seahawks.
The 33-year-old quarterback from Wisconsin would love to bring another title to the city, just like Manning did in Super Bowl 50.
Likewise, both players are coming off surgeries when they joined Denver.
Manning had spinal fusion surgery before the Colts ultimately parted ways with him.
On the other hand, Wilson had surgery in his throwing hand after injuring it against the Los Angeles Rams.
If that’s the case, the ten-year veteran should elevate the Broncos offense and lead them to a title.
