Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks are trying to do the impossible.
That is reaching the NFL postseason following a 3-8 start to the season.
The quest got off to a good start last week as the Seahawks took down the San Francisco 49ers to get to 4-8.
But the trade rumors surrounding Wilson are not magically going to go away now that the team has won four games.
Reports and rumors continue to filter out and Wilson was asked this week if he wants to continue playing in Seattle.
He offered up a compelling answer, as shared by Pro Football Talk:
“That’s my hope,” Wilson said. “My hope’s not just to fulfill it. Hopefully I can play here 20 years and my career. WIll that happen? I don’t know. That’s my prayer, that’s my hope. That stuff’s in the future, that stuff’s down the road. I think my mission, my focus is only on right now.”
So Wilson declares he hopes to stay in Seattle.
Does that mean he isn’t requesting any trades?
Russell Wilson says he not only intends to fulfill his Seahawks contract that ends after 2023 season, he wants to play for Seattle for "20 years."
"I love this place. I love this space."

Staying Professional And Focused
Wilson has never been a player to get too up or down during a season.
Even hearing he was disgruntled this past offseason was a bit of a shock.
But the trade rumors are out there for a reason and Wilson is not going to embarrass the organization or the fans by saying he wants out right now.
He is the team’s leader and is going to remain focused on reaching the playoffs.

And that is a noble plan, because the alternative is a terrible and uncomfortable finish to this season.
Both Wilson and Aaron Rodgers could be two stars on the move this offseason.
Yet for now, both are professional enough to stay focused on the task at hand.
