The Kansas City Royals have made a key move to strengthen their front office.
Earlier on Thursday, the team hired longtime scout Jim Cuthbert.
Cuthbert will serve as an advance and special assignment scout.
He was with the Washington Nationals in 2019 and played a pivotal role in the team reaching the World Series and ultimately winning their first title.
Cuthbert has spent the past two seasons in the Boston Red Sox organization.
On Twitter, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reported the news of the Royals latest hire and provided a little bit of background information on Cuthbert and what he has been able to accomplish in his career.

The Royals are gaining a key piece in their front office, as well as somebody who has been around for a while and has great winning experience.
For context, the Nationals were in the midst of a forgettable season in 2019.
After falling short of the postseason in 2018, the team got off to a poor start, going just 19-31 in their first 50 games.
But from there, the Nats took off and climbed back into contention.
They earned the top Wild Card spot in the National League by winning 93 regular season games.
They eliminated the Milwaukee Brewers in the Wild Card Game and rallied from a late deficit in Game 5 of the NLDS to knock out a heavyweight in the Los Angeles Dodgers.
After a clean sweep of the St. Louis Cardinals in the NLCS, the Nats engaged in a heated World Series battle with the Houston Astros.
The road team won every game in that series, and Washington battled back from a 3-2 deficit in Houston to capture their first World Series title.NEXT: Brady Singer Turned The Corner In 2022
