The New York Jets were reportedly quite close to signing Odell Beckham Jr.
The Baltimore Ravens came out of left field with a Godfather-like offer, snatching him at the eleventh hour.
That’s why there was some speculation about them potentially being interested in making a run at DeAndre Hopkins now that he’s a free agent.
Nonetheless, HC Robert Saleh pretty much shut down all those rumors in his latest media availability.
It doesn’t sound like the #Jets will be pursuing free agent WR DeAndre Hopkins. @Connor_J_Hughes asked HC Robert Saleh about D-Hop’s sudden availability & whether the team would be interested, ‘nah, we love our current group’ 🎥 @nyjets #TakeFlight pic.twitter.com/dFLYm9wRvO

When asked about Hopkins, Saleh claimed that the team loves its current WR corps, and even though he admitted there was an interest in OBJ, they’re not looking to make any more additions right now.
Truth be told, the Jets do have a solid WR corps.
Reigning NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Garrett Wilson leads the way, with Mecole Hardman, Allen Lazard, Corey Davis, and even Randall Cobb also being more than ready to make an impact.
Of course, none of them, aside from Wilson, could have the same impact as Hopkins, assuming he’s still healthy, but it’s only natural to think that the Jets are already satisfied and ready to roll with their current set of guys.
The Jets knocked on the door of playoff contention last season despite having a subpar situation at quarterback, so they’re only expected to be a Super Bowl-caliber team upon Aaron Rodgers’ arrival.
As for Hopkins, he should still gauge plenty of league-wide consideration from multiple teams, so Jets fans will sure hope he doesn’t join anybody in the AFC in the next couple of days.
