The Derek Carr era is officially over for the Las Vegas Raiders, as head coach Josh McDaniels benched him late in the season before the team released him.
The Raiders are reportedly in the market for a reliable quarterback, and there have been rumors that they may be interested in the San Francisco 49ers’ Jimmy Garoppolo, and Green Bay Packers star Aaron Rodgers.
However, former NFL QB Robert Griffin III said on “NFL Live” that the Raiders should try to make a play for New England Patriots signal-caller Mac Jones.
.@RGIII thinks Raiders HC Josh McDaniels should call about a QB he's already familiar with 😯

McDaniels was the Patriots’ offensive coordinator in 2021, which was Jones’ rookie season.
That year, he gave Patriots fans lots of hope for the future, as he put up 3,801 passing yards and 22 touchdown passes while making the Pro Bowl and leading New England to a playoff appearance.
But in 2022, his numbers went down, and it seems there is less confidence that he will be the team’s franchise QB of the future.
While some feel Jones isn’t all that, some feel it is his situation and not necessarily him that was responsible for his subpar 2022 season.
Although there are those who feel New England should move forward with Bailey Zappe under center, the team has made it clear, at least publicly, that they are happy with Jones.
But if they were to send Jones to the Raiders, he would have the type of weapons that could help speed up his development.
They have Davante Adams, arguably the best wide receiver in football, as well as running back Josh Jacobs, who was named to the Pro Bowl and All-Pro first-team this year.NEXT: The Raiders Have Announced The Passing Of A Former DB
