As games have been wiped off the schedule for the 2022 MLB regular season, one thing remains perfectly clear.
Rob Manfred remains a villainous figure in Major League Baseball.
If it wasn’t already clear to some, it should be now.
Yesterday, as he was announcing the cancellation of regular season games, cameras caught Manfred with a smile on his face, almost laughing and adding even more fuel to an already raging fire.
Robert Murray of FanSided spoke to an anonymous player yesterday after Manfred’s press conference, asking for his reaction to how Manfred delivered the news of cancelled games to the baseball world.
Asked a player for his reaction to Rob Manfred laughing after postponing the start of the regular season: “Are you talking about the guy who cut 42 minor-league teams and called the World Series trophy a hunk of metal?”

The player in question remains anonymous but points out many of the flaws with Manfred and the way his tenure has transpired.
To cut 42 minor-league teams, put young players out of jobs, and call the World Series trophy a “hunk of metal” is bad enough.
To cancel games and deliver the news with a smile on his face just adds insult to injury and goes to show what kind of person and commissioner Manfred really is.
It’s Time For A New Commissioner
Laughing in the midst of the longest work stoppage since the 1994-95 strike is just plain disrespectful to the fans and the players, especially the ones that are struggling to make ends meet as a result of Manfred and the owners eliminating several minor-league affiliates.
This type of behavior should be grounds for Manfred to be removed as commissioner of baseball.
It’s time for new leadership.
It’s time for somebody who cares genuinely about the fans and the players to be in charge of baseball.
Manfred is the biggest problem facing the game today, and things need to change immediately.
