The New York Knicks dropped like a stone through the Eastern Conference last season, ending the year in 11th place with a rotten 37-45 record.
That was a far cry from the season before when they concluded with the 4th seed and a 41-31 record.
While the team has gotten worse over the last couple of years, one of its stars has gotten better.
RJ Barrett has come into his own recently, improving from an average of 14.3 points, 5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists in 2019-20 to 20 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 3 assists in 2021-22.
Barrett has become a force for the Knicks – and he’s sticking around for some time.

Barrett signed a contract extension with New York over the summer and seemed adamant about doing all he can to make the team better.
Speaking during a live stream, Barrett spoke about his love for the team and its fan and the city of New York.
“It’s been amazing,” Barrett said about his experience playing for the Knicks.
Just imagine how he will feel if the team actually gets back on track.
Barrett In The Big Apple
Barrett might not be so fond of the fans in the future if his team continues to struggle.
New Yorkers are notorious for turning against their teams if they continually let them down – and the Knicks are getting to that point.
This season is vital for the squad and they need to do all they can to right the wrongs of 2021-22.
Barrett will be just one part of that: Jalen Brunson, Julius Randle, Obi Toppin, Evan Fournier, and a few others will play pivotal parts in what the team hopes will be a rebound season.
If things go well, Barrett will have more to praise about his time with the Knicks.
If they don’t, he should expect a rough ride.
