The season is pretty much lost for the New York Knicks but that doesn’t mean they can’t receive some good news.
The team is sitting at the 11th seed in the Eastern Conference, with a record of 34-42.
With just six games left, it’s all but impossible for them to surpass the Atlanta Hawks and grab the tenth seed.
But they are still having a few shining moments as their disappointing season comes to an end.
RJ Barrett is officially averaging 20PPG.
Year 1: 14.3 ppg
Year 2: 17.6 ppg
Year 3: 20 ppg (with 6 games left)— KnicksNation (@KnicksNation) March 29, 2022
One of the brightest aspects of the team is RJ Barrett, who has been only getting better.
In his first year, he was averaging 14.3 points per game.
In his second, 17.6.
This year, he has stepped it up and now averages 20 points per game.
Fans of the Knicks have been wild about Barrett for some time and now the rest of the league sees why.
It’s too late for the Knicks, but Barrett is proving he could be a great part of their future.
Barrett Is Balling
On Monday night, Barrett put up 28 points, alongside other notable showings from Alec Burks (27 points) and Obi Toppin (17 points).
It’s obvious that if the team wants to be strong next season, they will need to rely on these guys and find a way to help them shine even more.
But will Barrett be enough to help the Knicks overpower the Hawks this year?
They are currently 4.5 games behind the Hawks.
The possibility of them being able to surpass Atlanta seems very, very unlikely.
That doesn’t mean the fire in their bellies will diminish.
Barrett put it best on Monday night after the Knicks took down the Bulls.
“We fight no matter what,” Barrett told SportsNet.
